How to quit any addiction ?

Well, it's a tough question, isn't it.

Almost in every house there is someone, who is addicted to something. Addiction could be of anything: –

(1) Women often get addicted to watching TV serials, if they miss an episode, they go crazy.

(2) Women get habituated to wear jewelry, beauty ornaments etc.

(3) Some people get used to earn more and more money while some try to save it as much as they can.

(4) Working more and more in the name of carrier.

How to quit any addiction

(5) Addiction of social media, you tube, online games.

(6) Addiction of masturbation, watching porn movies and sex.

I guess, I have mentioned most of the major type of addiction, now the question is “how to quit addiction” ?
Well, you might met many alcohol & cigarette smoking people who says, today is their last day, from tomorrow they will never touch these things, but you were disappointed when they could not, and finally you might got fed up with their promises of quitting their addictions.

Why, that happened ? Is that they do it willingly ? Or, none of you know, how to quit addiction ?

Procedure is simple –

      Nothing happened overnight. You learnt things gradually.

Something became part of your life gradually. So, the process of un-learning them is also the same, it needs time.

Something became part of your life, can’t be left as easily as you think which you can do with just a promise, that’s why mostly people fail to quit addiction.

   Never say, from tomorrow you will stop something completely. Treating this way hardly works, because your first step itself is wrong.
  Ok, let me ask you, "something that is very important part of your life, till date, do you think, you can stop that so easily ?
 No, never, even this thought of "from tomorrow you will quit it", will tear you emotionally even before you start practicing it. 

And in many cases you come across patients going through terrific time, some go to comma or some may even commit suicide, while trying to quit their addictions.

How about, instead of leaving things forever, you say, “for TWO DAYS you will not use that thing, after two days again you can have it”.

In that way, psychologically you send a message to your brain that it's fine, it's just a matter of two days, after two days again you can have it. In this way, emotionally you are comparatively stronger than saying to leave it forever.

Though, in two days, addicted patient gets the pain of not using what they are addicted to, but remind them, it’s just matter of two days. Don’t leave them alone, spend time with them, so that they don’t feel lonely otherwise they may feel the need for their addicted thing.

After two days, allow them to have what they are addicted to, means you keep your promise. Emotionally they will think you understand them and their situation, and this will strengthen your relationship with them, which will also encourage them to try harder to quit their addiction as they will feel that for such nice people in their life they got to try even harder to get rid of it.

By practicing to quit addiction for two days, you did not stop their addiction all of a sudden, but you increased their WILL POWER. For two days, they could control to not using the thing, they were used to.

Practice it again, in a week or so for another two days, then increase the number of days gradually. Slowly you are teaching them how to live without what became part of their life. This way you are teaching them, how to un-learn what they learnt and got addicted to.

  Remember, you are here to experience things, experience everything, but that should be in your control, instead of getting addicted to it. Once things are in your control, use them as and when you want them.
